SEQUINS

SEQUINS

The application of sequins, which are small flat flakes of shiny material, is a common process in fashion to add decorative elements to fabrics or accessories. Here is a general explanation of how sequin application is done:

1. Designing the Pattern:

Designers create a detailed drawing indicating the location and pattern in which the sequins will be applied. This drawing can be done manually or by means of design software.

2. Sequin Selection:

The sequins are chosen according to the desired colour, size and material. The sequins can be made of materials such as plastic, metal or fabric.

3. Fabric Preparation:

The fabric on which the sequins will be applied is prepared. It can be stretched on a frame to facilitate application.

4. Manual Application:

The sequins can be sewn onto the fabric manually using a needle and thread. This process requires craft skills to ensure an even and secure application.

Another option is the use of special adhesives or textile glue to fix the sequins to the fabric.

5. Application with Embroidery Machines:

Sequins can be applied using specialised embroidery machines. These machines are programmed to follow the predetermined design and apply the sequins quickly and efficiently.

6. Fixing and Finishing:

If the sequins have been applied manually, additional sewing may be necessary to ensure their stability.

7. Quality Control:

Each piece is carefully checked to ensure that the sequins are applied correctly and that there are no defects.

8. Packaging and Delivery:

After quality control, the pieces are packed and delivered to the customer.

The application of sequins can add a touch of luxury and glamour to garments or accessories, adding a decorative and distinctive element.
